Star Trek: Lost to Eternity by Greg Cox

Only for super fans.  Very detailed and slow moving plot with so many characters!  It all made sense in the end but I didn’t enjoy it all that much.  If you saw the movie Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, you will be a step ahead with this book, but only a step! Apparently, this is the continuation of the movie and the story of what happened after Dr. Gillian Taylor ran away with the whales to space. Other than that, I was lost! The move was ok, but this book was soooooo not. If you didn’t see the movie to have a bit of background you will be floundering round in search of what the heck is going on. The reader is given several story lines to follow along with way too many characters/species. Who communicated with the whales, why did they do it, how does it all relate to the time lines is confusing and took too long to get to the ‘meat’ of the plot. The back and forth through time eventually brought it all together but by then I was so over it. Only 2 stars for this one. Feel free to give it a miss. I was given a copy-this is my opinion.
