DREADFUL by CAITLIN ROZAKIS

Welcome to 2025 with a fun book that is awarded 4.8 big fat stars, and the first ‘OTTER’ read recommendation of the year.

Gav, or the Dread Lord Gavrax, is having a really bad day.  He wakes up in what appears to be a dark wizard’s lair (surrounded by things on fire and spells burnt into the floor) with no memory of who he is, how he got there, or what happened.  He has to figure it all out before the undoubtably evil bad wizard that did this to him shows up to finish him off and do something probably even more evil and unpleasant to the princess that is locked in the dungeon….unless, wait a second, could it be that HE is actually the evil bad wizard?!  Oh, boy!

Gav has to play along with all the castle staff, villagers, and the REALLY bad evil wizards until he can uncover their dastardly secret plan and get his memory back.  Along the way, he may just discover he really is more of a Gav than a Dread Lord Gavrax.

Twisty, surprising, the plot moves right along.  The characters are awesome and come to life on the page.  The way Gav takes a good hard look at who he was and who he might want to become is well done and the ending was a perfect wrap up.
